Questions Sharing Network for Job Seekers and Hiring Managers

by Alex 13. January 2010 20:25

Many of the frequent visitors already noticed couple new links on top of this blog which were leading to commonInterview.com website. In short Common Interview is my new project which grew from the conversations with readers of this blog and couple of my fiends. To be clearer, I decided to share some of my ideas behind this new project.

Publishing articles on this blog I noticed one very interesting trend: while I receive hundreds of emails, there are just few non-spam comments for each article. Instead of intended dialog or even debates, the blog resembles monolog of some guy (me) on topic of interview questions.  I certainly have lots of things to say, so I will definitely keep blogging, but I also want to develop my idea about interview patterns and groups of interview questions which can help to answer any other unknown question.  There are tones of very good collections of interview questions on the web, and I certainly didn’t want to replicate them, rather I wanted to create a common place there people can share all the questions they found on the web, encountered on the interview or simply need help or advice with.

So, commonInterview.com is a never ending dynamic interview there everyone can post questions with or without answers, with links to other sites or with note who and then asked this question. Being highly dynamic, site should react to any changes as new technologies arise and new questions start to appear during the interview process. This is no longer one person opinion but collective master mind selecting best of the best from the web.

Another key difference from other sites like InContact and LinkedIn is that while you are building your network your identity is still private. The whole profile is basically just your Nick –no long questions, no resume, no career profile and absolutely no job board.

While there are many content sharing services like Digg, RedIt, ect., I haven’t found any one specifically targeted for interview questions. This is community project and the site is going to be as good as people who are contributing. Number of my friends are responding to my call and joining me in this effort and I invite all and every of my readers to give this project a try and submit a question.

How to contribute?

If you are job seeker then submit your recent interview questions, create a user group around your university, technology or special interest, bring your friends and let know someone else about this project or just follow us on Twitter (see link above).

If you are blogger who post or discuss interview questions, submit links to your web site and grab the external voting button.  See webmaster page.

If you are subject matter expert, hiring manager, recruiter, or just very passion about some subject, then create and lead user group, answer questions or comment on answers.

If you are developer and want to help, them drop me a line and we can talk on how we can collaborate.

There are hundreds of ways to participate and build your network.
